Ok... I've had this beer for a few months but it is still in great shape so I decided to add it here. I got this on my trip to North Bay earlier this year and this has been stored under refrigeration since then. The only this I have noticed with the can is a minor drop in carbonation; the head was quite small but the flavours were excellent.
Onto our beer...
Pours a deep chocolate brown with sweet notes of rich malt chocolate and coffee. First sip is very light bodied and fruity just as a good porter should be. Dark but still very refreshing. The taste gives over from dark malt to smoky, ashy wood, dried fruits. Aeration gives us some rye bread, sweet molasses and malt
Impressions: Fail, So-so, Pass, Exceptional
Cost: 5/6 PASS
Colour: 5/6 PASS
Beer Style: 5/6 PASS
Re-Order: 5/6 PASS
Experience: 5/6 PASS
Christmas Cheer 5/6 PASS
Final Thoughts:
A night light easy drinking porter true to style it is fruity and light-bodied. The smoky malts definitely make me think of the holidays and curling up in front of a roaring fire.
